I make stained glass frames for mirrors and am looking for a suitable material to protect the back of the mirror. I saw a slightly fluffy felt-type fabric on a mirror once, but can't trace it on the internet. Also any suggestions for hanging mirrors without drilling holes or attaching rings.
Milly's suggestion: Hi Sally, thanks for your question. I know exactly what you mean about the felt backing, but have you thought of protective window film instead? It is variously used for protection against scratches and dangerous breaks, along with other things which aren't suitable for this application (UV light rays, for example). If you cut and paste the following address into your browser you might find a product to suit: http://www.primrose-london.co.uk/window-films-c-751.html
With regard to fixings - I've hung opaque panels on walls before by sticking two rectangles of perspex on the back of the glass - stained glass mirrors would work too - which are pre-drilled, and then I've threaded wire through the holes to hang. Works a treat and is invisible. Hope that helps, Milly
