I am doing a ceramics project with glass inlaid in the clay. I need to know if the glass will completely melt in the kiln or if nothing will happen. Either way is fine with me I would just like to know what will happen before i start doing the glass work.
Milly's reply:
The most likely scenario is that the glass will melt but will crack and craze, as the two materials have different rates of heating and cooling. It can still look good, though - you could think about using opaque glass so that it remains colourful rather than being lost in the colour of the clay.
I'd be interested to know how you get on.
