Hi! I am from Pune, India. Firstly, the glass etching cream is not available here. Is there another option like some kind of acid and another cream. Also, what is an alternative name for the backing paper?
Milly's reply: There is the extremely dangerous hydrofluoric acid, which yields great results but is lethally dangerous. You can read more about it on my site here: Glass Etching
Or you can achieve the frosted effect by sandblasting - after you've stuck the resist on your glass, you'll either have to hire a sandblaster and blast it yourself, or find someone in your area who has one, and get them to do it for you.
With regard to the backing - it's the sticky plastic that we used to cover our school books with. I don't know what other names it might be called, but hope that helps.
