'Honeybee'

A client wanted a trio of simple circular panels for inside doors, in themes of special significance to his wife: one theme was the honeybee, and this is what I made. I was delighted when the online image was found by the Roe Valley Bee Keepers Association (Ulster), who wished to adopt the image for their logo -- and they did! This image was also copied at large scale for an exhibition of graphic arts in London! Lends credence to the artist's maxim, "Less is more!"

Milly's reply:
Love it love it, and am not surprise it got picked up for a logo - it's simple and yet really gives you a sense of being immersed in pollen and flower.
Stained glass copper foil is a really flexible technique for intricate details... but what I want to know is how you got that thicker bit for the bee's antennae? Is it stained glass applique? I can't really see in the image.
Thanks for showing us this Larry, it's great.

Bee's antennae
by: Larry Stout

They're simply soldered seams, expanded slightly at the bee's head. Simple, simple, simple! ;>)

Ah, nice touch! Milly
